Dependency Advocacy Center Turns 15!

Dependency Advocacy Center turned 15 on October 1, 2023! Oh, how time flies! DAC celebrated this amazing milestone of 15 years of service on October 18th! During this momentous occasion, DAC introduced the inaugural AnnaLisa Chung Distinguished Advocate Award, and honored Daniel Little, SSA Director, as its first recipient. Araceli Lopez-Cuevas was also recognized as DAC’s 2023 Outstanding Parent! She spoke of the strength she drew from her Attorney (Katie Joh) and DAC Mentor Parent (Ana Nevarez), to overcome the barriers in her way. Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez honored both Outstanding Parent Araceli Lopez-Cuevas and DAC with commendations. Supervisor Chavez recognized DAC’s dedication to serving families in Santa Clara County through its commitment to interdisciplinary advocacy, prevention, early intervention efforts, and system transformation work. This celebration also marked Katie Joh’s first speech as DAC’s incoming CEO (taking effect 1/8/24). Katie shared a few words about stepping into her new role and also honored the legacy of founding CEO, Annalisa Chung, who is now a Founder in Residence at DAC. It was a night to remember! Happy birthday Dependency Advocacy Center.
